Shock and grief have engulfed residents of Nansana Municipality in Wakiso District following the tragic killing of an 18-year-old student, identified as Bukenya Martin, who was allegedly beaten to death by the father of his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day. According to preliminary police reports, the incident occurred in Mabanda Cell, Gombe Division, Nansana Municipality. Bukenya, a student at Hillside Senior Secondary School in Matugga, had reportedly visited the home of a 14-year-old girl said to be his girlfriend when the violent confrontation happened. Authorities say the girl’s father, identified as Herbert, allegedly found the two together at his residence on the evening

of February 14. In a fit of anger, he is accused of severely assaulting the teenager. Eyewitnesses claim that Bukenya sustained critical injuries during the attack. He was rushed to a nearby clinic for medical attention but was pronounced dead shortly afterward due to the severity of his injuries. Following the incident, the suspect reportedly fled the scene along with members of his family. Police have since launched a manhunt and are urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.
